In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore the playful world of mono-printing. Using ink, everyday objects, and a healthy dose of spontaneity. You'll experiment with mark-making, color layering, and ghost prints, discovering how happy accidents and unexpected results are part of the magic. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to be surprised. You'll leave with a collection of original, one-of-a-kind artworks and maybe a new creative obsession.
Art has been central to James Rees' life since childhood — from the moment he could hold an object, he was using it to express himself. He studied art in college, and though he never set out to be a teacher, he has spent over twenty-seven years teaching at the high school, college, and university levels, driven by a desire to invite others to discover themselves through art. A respected voice in arts education, he has served as Pacific Region Vice President for the National Art Education Association, as Secondary Division Director, and has been appointed to the NAEA Research Commission. A Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar, he has received awards from the NAEA and the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation, along with numerous residencies and fellowships. He is an Art 21 Educator, a former mentor teacher for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's TICA program, a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, and serves on several national advisory boards and state art education committees — all fueled by a deep passion for arts advocacy www.jamesreesart.com
